The 90s

In my world, the 90s felt like a peak time to be a kid. We were right at the crossroads between modern technology and real, outside fun. There was no social media, no smartphones, no tablets keeping us glued inside or disconnected from each other. You had the occasional gamer, but even then it was about the love of the game, not hours lost running around online servers.

We still had TV, and if you were lucky, cable. Commercials had us hooked—soon as we saw something, it was “I want that!” Saturday mornings were prime time for cartoons, and if you were into sports, SportsCenter was the first thing on before school.

We had VCRs, cassette players, and music you actually had to go find—or just catch on the radio. Streaming is great, but that era was all about discovery in the most tangible way. We traded cards like currency and guarded our collections like treasure… at least until a teacher took them for trading in class.

And speaking of class—remember the TV on the cart? You knew it was about to be a good day when that rolled in. Cafeteria pizza, the whole experience… the 90s really were something special.

Below are a few memes and visuals I came up with that capture that feeling. Enjoy.
