UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT

THE INSPIRATION
I created the University of Louisiana Shreveport (ULS) in 2024 with the goal of building a believable, major collegiate program for Shreveport, Louisiana. While the city has established higher-education institutions, it has never had a true flagship-style university with the atmosphere and identity of a major NCAA football program.
Shreveport is home to Centenary College, a four-year institution, and Southern University at Shreveport, which primarily serves as a two-year college. The area also includes Bossier Parish Community College, another two-year institution that plays an important role in the local educational landscape. While these schools serve the region well, none carry the large-scale collegiate identity or football culture typically associated with major NCAA programs.
When you look at the region, the closest programs with that kind of presence are Louisiana Tech, the University of Louisiana Monroe, the University of Louisiana Lafayette, and Grambling State. With Shreveport being a large regional hub in North Louisiana, it felt natural that a major university and football program could exist there. Creating ULS allowed me to fill that gap in a way that felt both realistic and grounded in the geography and culture of the area.
I’ve created fictional universities in football games before, but this project was different. This time, I approached it with the level of creativity and design experience I’ve developed over the years, applying modern 2024–2025 graphics and branding styles to make the university feel authentic within today’s college football landscape.
A key part of the concept was tying the university into the existing UL system, which made the name University of Louisiana Shreveport feel natural and believable. Another major decision was selecting Independence Stadium as the home venue, giving the program a real-world anchor within the city. The idea originally began under the name Caddo State University, but ultimately UL Shreveport felt more cohesive and true to the region’s identity.

The program’s colors are navy blue, golden yellow, and red. The choice was driven mostly by aesthetics — I wanted something bold, unique, and visually striking. Many college programs rely on one dominant and secondary color paired with white or black, but this combination felt different while still believable. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of another major program using this exact mix, which helps give ULS a distinct identity.

The Logo
The logo has its own history as well. Years ago, I designed a concept for a redesigned Indianapolis Colts logo using the letter “C” as the foundation for a horseshoe. Since that design already existed, it became the perfect starting point. With Northwest Louisiana’s ties to horses, rodeos, and regional culture, the Colts felt like a natural mascot choice—and that’s how the University of Louisiana Shreveport Colts were born.
